CityCycle from Inside Detroit

There is no better way to see and experience our city than on a bicycle.  The sights, sounds, and even the smells of Detroit stimulate and excite the senses. Bike Tours will be leisurely rides of 10 to 12 miles at a relaxed pace, suitable for all abilities. We’ll make a few stops along the way with a stop of about 45 minutes for food/drink in the middle.

Please bring money for any purchases. Helmets and signed waivers are required for all riders. Tours start at Inside Detroit’s Welcome Center at 1253 Woodward promptly at 11AM on designated Sundays. All tours are guided by city residents who are active cyclists and city enthusiasts. Cost is $20 person. Bikes are not provided.

Hamtramck Sunday, August 7

SE Michigan’s famous 2 square mile city, named one of America’s hippest places by the Utne Reader, encompasses some of the metro areas most exciting combinations of community, culture, and fun. Home of the Metrotimes Blowout, Annual Labor Day Festival, award winning schools, delicious bakeries, and a rich Eastern European, Middle Eastern, African American, and South Asian infusion. We’ll cruise the kitschy Hamtramck Disneyland, some incredible and affordable eateries, historic Poletown/GM Plant, the restored Café 1923, Bangladesh Avenue, and more! Be sure and practice your basic greetings in one of our 20+ spoken languages!

Highland Park Sunday, September 11

Another city within our city, Highland Park has fewer bars than Hamtramck but we’re going to show you why it was important. Highland Park was a densely populated city, anchored by the birthplace of the Model-T automobile. We’ll travel through two historic residential districts, past amazing churches and the beautiful McGregor Library. We’ll also talk about revitalization efforts in the city and how the Michigan Film Credit had its effect.
